of the Executive Council I have allowed Inspector Perry of the Police Force, to retire on pension on the ground of ill health.
I enclose a copy of the Colonial Surgeon's certificate as to the state of Inspector Perry's health, together with a copy of Dr Wharry's certificate in respect of the injury received in 1877.
It was inflicted by a prisoner whom Inspector Perry succeeded in arresting in spite of his desperate efforts to escape, clinging manfully to the man (to quote the report made at the time by the Acting Captain Superintendent of Police) until assistance arrived although suffering intense pain from the wounds he had received.
